Writer's Block: Independence Day [Sep. 16th, 2008|09:45 am]
[Tags|]

In recognition of Mexican Independence Day, tell us how you celebrate your own independence.

View 394 Answers

lol, what? Mexico has nothing to celebrate. Mexicans aren't independent. Their government was bought and paid for a long time ago and it's been continuously serving the financially elite ever since. Mexicans are worse off now than ever before.
Seriously though, what is this "celebrate your independence" bullshit? Fuck you.

I'm moving to Davis on Sunday. I'm excited for college. Ch-ch-ch-changes and whatnot.

Overall I had a good summer. I've taken up creative writing again. Except I can't manage to write more than three sentences without changing my mind about how I want to phrase certain things. It's not really writer's block, it's more like writer's schizophrenia. I got an interesting and fun internship working at the radio station, and it doesn't hurt that my iTunes library is a couple of gigabytes fatter because of it. Wednesday's my last day and I suppose that makes me a little sad. My grandpa's health is more stable now, which is somewhat of a relief because I think moving to Davis will only make me feel further isolated from my family in Mexico, and not having that to worry about will make it a bit easier to deal with. I'm going to miss my family and Raeanne a ton, but it's really not that long of a wait between now and winter break. And I think I've had enough of a summer break for now; I'd rather be learning things and reading things and writing things.

Normally I think The Onion is pretty meh, but I thought this was pretty amusing.

edit:
Also, I just got a facebook a while ago. I only got to use the "old facebook" for like, a day, and then they changed it, so I hardly have anything to compare the new facebook to. But even just judging it by its own merits I have to say it does suck a lot. A lot a lot a lot. There's so much damn clutter and I can't find anything.
And then facebook sends me messages that say shit like "YOUR FRIEND BIT YOU WITH HIS LEVEL 17 VAMPIRE HUNTER UNDEAD POWER RANGER DILDO WIELDER" and I'm like "wait what?" and facebook says "COME ON PUSSY CLICK HERE IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT ALL THIS VAMPIRE SHIT IS ABOUT" so I'm like "uh, okay, I guess I'll cl-" and facebook goes "ALLRIGHT ASSWIPE YOU'VE INSTALLED THE VAMPIRE ZOMBIE MOLEPEOPLE APP ON YOUR PROFILE, NOW START BITING PEOPLE BECAUSE YOU'RE ONLY LEVEL 1 RIGHT NOW AND YOU NEED TO BE LEVEL 2 SO YOU CAN START BUILDING UP TO LEVEL 3" and I'm like "wait no stop, I didn't tell you to-" but facebook interrupts me and says "OH AND ALSO HERE'S SOME EGGS WATCH THEM HATCH INTO A FUCKING CAREBEAR OR SOME SHIT, AND WHILE WE'RE AT IT HERE ARE SOME PINS TO POST ON YOUR PROFILE BECAUSE THIS IS AMERICA AND WE DON'T HAVE TIME TO DESCRIBE OUR SOCIAL VIEWS IN ANYTHING LONGER THAN ONE SENTENCE" and by this time I'm crying and I'm asking facebook to stop, please stop, please make it go away and facebook slaps me across the face and says "DON'T GIVE ME THAT SHIT, IF YOU WANT TO UNINSTALL THE APPS YOU CAN FIND THE UNINSTALL BUTTON YOURSELF, YOU LITTLE BITCH. MY COCK EATS KIDDIES LIKE YOU FOR BREAKFAST."

That's kind of what going on facebook is like. To me at least.

Morgan Scoffield had decided that he was going to be a rude man. He sat alone in a restaurant booth in Dallas City Airport. It was one of many airports across the Entire Fucking World. They all served the same basic purpose: to load people up into airplanes which would in turn take them across the Entire Fucking World to other airports, where the people would then be unloaded to free up space on the airplanes so that the whole process could begin again.
Morgan Scoffield looked outside the glass wall of the restaurant. He saw a man in a uniform hovering a metal detector around the body of a baby boy. Another man in uniform was closely inspecting the baby’s carriage, while a third was standing by the baby’s mother.
All three men in uniform had handguns strapped to their waists. In case things got out of hand.
The three men worked for private security companies. Private security companies made large profits off of Morgan Scoffield’s government, which paid them to do things like checking baby carriages and asking people to take off their shoes and put them back on. And the citizens of Morgan’s country didn’t mind that their government spent so much money on private security companies because they were scared. They were scared because the Entire Fucking World disliked them. The Entire Fucking World disliked them so much that a couple of years before some really angry men took over some planes and flew them into some towers. The towers happened to be in New York City, and everyone really loved New York City. So when everyone found out who the angry men were, they sent bombs and uniformed men with guns to their country. To see how they liked it.
The name of the country where the angry men came from was Afghanistan.
While Morgan’s government was sending bombs to Afghanistan, it remembered about another country near Afghanistan, Iraq. Iraq had oil, and Morgan’s country really needed oil so that it could do things like load people up in planes. So Morgan’s country began sending bombs and uniformed men with guns to Iraq instead of Afghanistan. This made other countries angry, because they didn’t think that Morgan’s country should be allowed to take things from other people. Morgan’s country knew they were right, but it wanted the oil really badly so it told the other countries that Iraq was making bombs, and that the Entire Fucking World needed to drop bombs on them before they got a chance to drop bombs on the Entire Fucking World.
The story about Iraq’s bombs was part of the Big Bullshit. The Big Bullshit was a series of lies, some of them unrelated and some of them closely linked, that people all across the Entire Fucking World told themselves and told each other. The Big Bullshit sometimes allowed people to get away with things they wouldn’t normally be able to get away with, but mostly people used it to make their lives seem more important than they actually were.
So Morgan’s country used the Big Bullshit to take Iraq’s oil. But now the people in Morgan’s country were more afraid than ever. They never found the people in charge of the really angry men, and now the Entire Fucking World was really angry them for taking Iraq’s oil. So they paid uniformed men with guns to check people before loading them up in planes. They even checked babies, in case they were really angry babies.
The people in Morgan’s country didn’t want any more angry men to fly planes into their favorite cities. They had had enough.

I cried a little when turned on the TV a few nights ago and the headline read the words "Carlin" and "dead" in the same sentence. I don't like it when intelligent people die and he was the last person on the face of this planet, as far as I know, who was truly so open about his intelligence, often to the point of opening himself up for serious criticism.

I don't really feel like talking about myself or what I've been up to. My summer's been really great so far. I'm going to sleep.

I was going to write something about the election, but I was only on the second sentence when I realized that half of you motherfuckers would probably just call me a freedom-hating queer, and the other half would ask me why I'm such an angry human being.

[Current Music |Ice Cube - It Was A Good Day]

I am so sick. Snotty nose, mucousy throat, blank stare, droopy eyes, open mouth, coughing fits, slow reactions, everything. I'm looking pretty attractive right about now. Finals start tomorrow.

I wish I had the energy to write something interesting. On Thursday there were crows and more crows all over the trees near the baseball field at Helix, I was walking to the gym and they were flying in circles over my head, and I was just thinking to myself, this is the most metal fucking thing that has ever happened to me.

P.S. Having this cold has made me realize that I'm one of those assholes who blow their nose and then spend some time examining the snot on their tissue before folding it and throwing it away.

I'm sick...ish. My parents think it's hepatitis so hurrah. But I'm pretty sure it's just food poisoning; we'll see.

In other news, spamusement.com is my new favorite web site. It's a series of cartoons based off of spam that people recieve in their e-mail. I don't know if they're genuinely that funny or if I'm just in a weird mood, because I seriously laughed my head off at some of these.

Some of the best ones... )

[Current Music |Pavarotti/Freni/Milnes - Ah! Franchigia a Floria Tosca]

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with a lot of things.

I'm standing over the Aegean Sea, and all I see are black sails.

As a child, Puccini's uncle told him that he was too undecisive to ever have a career in the arts. I guess that gives me a (false) sense of stability.

Tomorrow morning I'm leaving with my dad to Baja California. We're going to rough it out in Tiburon Island, in the Sea of Cortez. I'll be back in a week(ish?), hopefully with lots of pictures. Not much more to say. My grandpa, aunt and cousin all left this morning.

Some semi-recent pics from my phone )

[Current Music |"Kinetic Kid" - Staring at Happiness]

Cool stuff happening. Cool stuff happening.

My grandpa's visiting, which is pretty neat. He's hot shit. Then tomorrow my aunt's coming with her son, I guess the girl is staying behind because her passport hasn't been renewed yet thanks to the functional and efficient government established in the fine country of Mexico. Speaking of Mexico, I find it delightfully pathetic that the vast majority of people over there are freaking out at the fact that a woman posed semi-nude with the Mexican flag, considering how many other things they have to worry about at the moment. Nationalism is the most obnoxious form of vanity that there is. I would really like if one day a bunch of people from all kinds of different countries got together somewhere and burned the flags of their respective countries. That's something I would really like to attend. But anyways, back to the point at hand, my aunt's coming and that'll be cool. Tomorrow is also Jessica's birthday, which will be cool. Then I'm going camping with my dad to Isla Tiburon all next week, which will be coool. Then we're going to Argentina over winter break, which will be coool. Then my sister Ana is coming to live with us for two months, which will be coool.

Oh and Jon said I could use some of his music in the documentary I'm making, which is really damn cool. It's crazy; whenever I'm making a movie I spend my free time thinking up shots in my head, and now I spend my time thinking how those shots would be like when accompanied by Jon's music, haha.

[Current Music |The Chapter - For the Wreckord]

I know that Chappelle's Show is in a transtitional stage where it's too old to be considered relevant, and yet not old enough to be considered classic, but I don't care, I'm posting this clip anyways. I've seen this skit a bunch of times already but it never gets old.

Oh and I can't fall asleep. I did, for about ten minutes, and then I kept shifting around. So yeah I dunno. If anyone's up, post youtube videos for me to watch or something.

[Current Music |We're Good Guys - We're Good Guys]

The soap opera that my grandpa's directing ends tomorrow!! Omagahh.

The guy who plays the antagonitst is seriously the funniest actor I have ever seen. Ever. He's like, bossy and impatient and he has a stutter, and he gets so frustrated that he starts yelling like a little kid and he grabs his wife by the cheeks and kisses her while she scrunches up her face and he's just hilarious.

My grandpa said it was gonna be his last novela amd then he was gonna retire, but now he's signed a contract to do one more after this. I don't even know what to think; part of me doesn't want him to get all stressed out with work but another part of me knows that if he doesn't have work he just mopes around the house and stays in a vegitative state. So I dunno.

What shows do you guys watch.
